Kylie Danielson, M.Ed
Jacques C. Shure Religious School Director, principal@cjcn.org
Kylie Danielson grew up right here in Houston where she attended HISD schools through 12th grade. She began her early Jewish education at Temple Emanu El, as well as spending several summers at GFC as a camper, and being an active participant in BBYO’s Barnston chapter. Her Jewish exploration continued as a student at Middlebury College in Vermont, where she attended and led student services with Hillel, wrote divrei Torah, and studied Biblical Hebrew. Kylie participated on a Birthright trip after college graduation in 2007 and decided to live there as a young adult. She served as a teaching intern for a year in Tel Aviv with the Masa Career Israel program. During that year, Kylie found life-long friends, met her husband, David, and established a love of Israel as an important part of her Jewish identity.
Since returning to the US in 2009, Kylie has dedicated herself to excellence in primary literacy education. She worked as a first grade reading and language arts teacher in Houston ISD before moving to the Bryan/College Station area. There, Kylie was the lead reading teacher for first and second grade and completed a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University. In the fall of 2015 Kylie and David moved back to Houston, and Kylie took a break from teaching to focus on being a mom. The Danielson family is continuing to grow, with the arrival of a baby girl coming in December 2017!
Kylie is excited and honored to be in a leadership role with the Jacques C. Shure Religious School. Her background in secular and Jewish education will serve as a guide for promoting excellence in teaching and creating positive, lasting, meaningful experiences with Jewish learning and living. When Kylie isn’t working in education, she enjoys cooking and baking, hiking, reading and learning new things, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
