How can I help my temple and honor my family, too?

There are beautiful wall decorations in our temple that can help you do these two mitzvahs. In our entry, the beautiful Tree of Life adorns the paneled wall. You can donate $250 to the temple and have  one of the bronze leaves of the tree inscribed to honor a joyous life-cycle event in your family . or any family. Examples are: Mazal Tov! On the Bar Mitzvah of (insert name and date) from Nana and Papa. Celebrating the 25 wedding anniversary of (insert name) - etc. Contact the temple by phone (281)376-0016 or email office@cjcn.org and our office manager, Layna Adams, will send you the order form.

In the Sanctuary, on the back wall on the right side, our Yahrzeit Memorial Boards honor the memory of family members and friends. You will need to send the exact spelling of the name of the loved one, the Hebrew name, (if you know it), and the English date of the death. The donation for memorializing your loved one is $350. Again, you can receive the order form by calling or emailing the temple office. (281) 376-0016 or office@cjcn.org.

For example, if your loved one's date of passing was August 1, 2007, that date corresponds to 17 Av 5767. In the future, you will be notified that the anniversary of your loved one.s yahrzeit will be on 17 Av 5768 (which, next year, corresponds to August 18, 2008.).This is very confusing for many people. We are so used to thinking in terms of the English calendar that we are confused by references to the Hebrew calendar. You will be notified every year, because we have another mitzvah of remembering your loved one on the anniversary of their death by making a contribution.

As you attend our High Holy Day services this year, please look for these important features of our temple and consider supporting CJCN in this way.
