Update on the URJ Art Contest- CJCN Has Nine Winners
During the 2006-2007 Religious School year, some of our students created entries for the Union for Reform Judaism’s Torah Cover Art Contest. Fifty-two entries were needed to be published on the cover of the URJ’s Parsahat Hashavuah (Weekly Torah Portion) Booklets. Many pictures from around the country were entered, and out of the 52 chosen, 9 of them came from the Jacques C. Shure Religious School Art Program.
Under the guidance of our art teacher, Rosanne Friedman, the students were instructed to draw something about his/her own special connection to the Torah. Many art materials were provided and each student reached into his/her own imagination, thoughts and interpretations to create enriching and original designs. We are very proud of all of our contestants.
We would like to congratulate the students whose pictures were chosen. In addition to having their pictures published the following also received a $50.00 gift certificate for URJ materials and 5 copies of that published booklet: Kelli Ewers, Maya Friedman, Erica Fuchs, Cheryl Kutcher, Rachael Kutcher, Adam Reichstein Taylor Saltzman and Ashley Saltzman. Again ,special thanks to Rosanne Friedman for her talent, and to Joan Camenson for bringing this contest to our attention.
