QUESTION:

How are our Shabbat Onegs organized? |

For this answer, I interviewed Cindy Ewers. Cindy is a wonderful young lady with 2 lovely daughters, Kelli, (who became a Bat Mitzvah last February) and Elaine. Cindy has volunteered, through being a Sisterhood Board member, to organize the Onegs for this coming year. (Interesting fact: Cindy grew up in Hawaii!) Here's the Oneg plan: |

- Several temple families are asked to host the Oneg each Friday evening. This is a great way to get to know more people and to perform a mitzvah for the temple.
- Sisterhood will send you a letter when it is your turn to be the host - usually the families are scheduled alphabetically.
- You will be asked to bring either 5 dozen assorted cookies or 3 assorted cakes or cheese and fruit platters. Please drop them off at temple on Friday. Please call the office before you stop by to be sure the door is open. You do not have to set up and clean up but we would love for you to greet everyone at the Oneg, as a charming host/hostess would!
- In addition, we will ask you to be a part of the service that evening. Please call the temple office to let them know you will be attending so that we can honor you during the service.
- In the unfortunate event that you will not be able to attend, we have an alternative way for you to fulfill your mitzvah. We ask you to help defray the cost of the Oneg by sending $20 to CJCN Sisterhood. Sisterhood makes sure our Onegs have table cloths, cups, napkins, etc, as well as challah and wine.
We thank Cindy for keeping us organized. She would also like to know if you have a special date that you would like to be the host - maybe for an anniversary, birthday or any special occasion. Just get in contact with Cindy, 713-864-7733 ext. 206 (Cindy's office), 713-398-0458 (Cindy's cell). Let her know at least one month before your special date and she will gladly schedule you to be our Oneg host.
